Overview

A digital solution for recycling

Kooba designed, developed and delivered a digital acceleration solution for Repak - Ireland’s leading environmental not-for-profit organisation. Through a careful and thorough UX design process, Kooba allowed Repak to provide both members and the general public with an engaging and informative experience, helping to drive their growth targets in the process. Repak’s objectives for their website redesign were two-fold. On the one hand, Repak needed to provide an experience that was valuable and informative to their existing and prospective members. This meant providing resources on membership offerings, and channelling members towards a custom-built members’ portal. On the other hand, Repak wanted to use their digital platform to educate the general public on the importance and benefits of recycling, and provide advice on how to better recycle at home.

Providing for members

In order to better provide for existing members and recruit new members to Repak’s offering, a specialised “Members” page was created, highlighting the range of businesses working with Repak and the benefits available through a Repak membership. In order to accurately represent the needs of Repak and the website’s users, this page was designed following extensive consultations with different stakeholders, and was tested methodically in the process. The “Members” page served to better convert potential members, and included a wide range of resources that could be accessed and downloaded by different users. To help drive traffic and engagement on this page, Kooba added a clear CTA to it on the homepage. Kooba also included a link to Repak’s member’s portal, helping Repak’s community to easily log in and take actions on their accounts.

Educating the public

Alongside these valuable resources for members, Kooba also made sure to provide Repak with the tools needed to educate the general public on recycling best practices and their mission as an organisation. This was accomplished through a clear layout which allowed users to navigate to a variety of content on recycling, including guides, survey results, and a useful look-up feature to see details on specific recyclable items. Repak also added a range of information regarding their broader mission, such as pieces on environmental legislation and a blog page.

Through a user-led design process which involved stakeholders at every stage, Kooba were able to develop a web solution which perfectly matched the needs of Repak and their members. By simultaneously engaging with members and the general public, Repak’s new website helps to both drive business growth and contribute to Repak’s mission of a greener and more sustainable economy.
